International law firm Simmons & Simmons has announced that Jeffrey Friedenberg joined the firm in February as its head of private funds, in line with the firm's expansion in Asia-Pacific and the Greater China region.

Friedenberg will be based in the Hong Kong office, working across the region with Eva Chan and Ivy Yam, partners in the firm's asset management and investment funds practice, the firm said in a statement. He has joined from Angelo Gordon where he was a partner and managing director and head of legal and compliance for Europe and Asia. At Angelo Gordon, Friedenberg provided transactional, advisory, and regulatory counsel for more than 10 years to private equity real estate, private credit, and client partnership groups.

Friedenberg brings more than 20 years of experience in the asset management and investments funds sector, with a particular focus on advising international and regional asset managers, financial institutions, investment advisors, family offices, and institutional investors. His practice includes representing private fund managers in fund formation, capital raising, portfolio investments, fund regulatory and compliance, and fund operational issues, the firm added.
