Who’s Moving Where In Wealth Management? – Whitman Asset Management, ALFI, Others

The latest senior executive moves in wealth management around the world.

Whitman Asset Management
Whitman Asset Management, the fund management and private client investment firm, has made two hires in its private client team.

Riccardo Persona is joining as an investment manager from Brewin Dolphin and Andrew Stevens is joining from Quilter Cheviot. They will bring all trading in-house and launch an execution-only business for private clients. Further appointments are planned in the coming months, the firm said in a statement.

Whitman offers clients a traditional multi-asset portfolio management service, as well as a fund management division that is led by Christopher Pease, manager of the Whitman UK Small Cap Growth Fund. Alongside this, Whitman offers private clients an AIM Inheritance Tax Portfolio Service, which was expanded last month when the firm announced its purchase of a similar service from Kestrel Partners.

ALFI
The Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry has appointed Miriam Henke as its new secretary general.

Henke will be responsible for running the internal organisation and administration of ALFI. She will report directly to Camille Thommes, director general.
Before joining ALFI, Henke was head of the company secretariat of Aberdeen Standard Investments Luxembourg.

Prior to joining Aberdeen Standard Investments Luxembourg, Henke worked for more than 13 years as head of the corporate office of Clearstream Banking. In addition, she was temporarily head of the corporate office of Eurex, concentrating on corporate governance and corporate secretary matters within the financial sector in Luxembourg, Germany and Switzerland.

Fidelity International
Fidelity International has hired Ashish Kochar as a fund manger. He will arrive in September and will be based in London.

Kochar, who will be joining the global equity team, will become portfolio manager of the Fidelity Funds – Global Focus (Luxembourg-domiciled SICAV), alongside co-portfolio manager Oliver Trimingham.

Prior to this, Kochar worked at Columbia Threadneedle. He has more than 16 years’ investment experience of managing US, global and absolute return products. Before his 13 plus years at Columbia Threadneedle, he worked at hedge-fund manager, North Sound Capital, and Merrill Lynch. Kochar holds an MBA from Mason School of Business.
