Capital Group,
which has assets under management of more than $2.3 trillion, has
bolstered its Asia-Pacific fixed income team with the
appointments of two fixed income investment directors.
Manusha Samaraweera (pictured) is fixed income investment director for APAC ex-Japan, and is based in Singapore. He has about 15 years of experience, most recently as fixed income and ESG strategist at PIMCO, where he represented its global fixed income and ESG investment solutions to Asian clients.
Haran Karunakaran, who was a director in Capital Group’s investment product services team in Singapore, has been appointed fixed income investment director for APAC with a focus on Australia; he will relocate to Sydney. Karunakaran has 18 years of industry experience and has been with Capital Group for two years, joining from PIMCO where he was senior vice president and fixed income strategist.
Samaraweera and Karunakaran will represent Capital Group’s fixed income team, deepen client engagement and continue to bring fixed income investment opportunities to investors in APAC, the firm said in a statement.
“Manusha’s blend of deep regional knowledge and fixed income expertise, as well as Haran’s broad-ranging APAC product strategy and development experience, will support our continued efforts in bringing Capital Group’s 50 years of fixed income expertise and credentials to investors across APAC,” Andy Budden, head of asset class services, Asia Pacific, said.
“Fixed income plays an important role in meeting investors’ long-term financial goals, and while many have taken flight from markets to shift into cash, now may be a good time to take cash off the sidelines and consider fixed income,” Scott Steele, head of fixed income business development for Asia and Europe, said.
Capital Group, which has served investors in Asia for the last 40 years, has offices in the region including Sydney, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai and Mumbai.
