Bank Of Singapore Names New Head Of Alternative Investments
Editorial Staff
29 July 2026
has appointed Benjamin Low – effective 17 August – to lead its alternatives platform, which spans private equity, private credit, venture capital, infrastructure and real estate.
The platform is set up to meet the evolving and increasingly sophisticated investment needs of high net worth and ultra-HNW clients.
Based in Singapore, Low will report to Jean Chia, global chief investment officer.
Low has more than 15 years of institutional leadership experience across alternatives strategy, portfolio positioning and manager selection. He was most recently head of Asia hedge funds research at Cambridge Associates, where he advised on multi-billion-dollar portfolios for leading endowments, family offices, pension funds and corporate investors.
Low's predecessor in leading Bank of Singapore's alternatives push, Chee Jiun Wen, left the bank in the spring of 2026 to become head of private markets, APAC Wealth, at Franklin Templeton.
The appointment comes amid rising client interest in alternative investments, as investors seek to diversify their portfolios, mitigate risk and pursue more consistent income and returns in an uncertain market environment. According to private capital database provider Preqin, the global alternatives industry is expected to reach $32 trillion in assets under management by 2030.
Earlier this year, Yazid Mahadi, head of funds selection, had his responsibilities expanded to include the development and curation of the bank's hedge fund offering, in response to increasing client demand.
This area of alternative investment is a significantly competitive area for private banks in APAC.
