DBS Appoints Hong Kong, Taiwan and Indonesia Leaders

is to appoint three internal executives to senior leadership roles in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Indonesia. These hires follow the upcoming retirement of Sebastian Paredes as chief executive of DBS Bank (Hong Kong) and head of North Asia. He will leave these roles on 1 March 2027, and remain a senior advisor at DBS, it said in a statement yesterday. 

Ng Sier Han, CEO of DBS Taiwan, will succeed Paredes as CEO of DBS Bank (Hong Kong) from the start of next March. Lim Chu Chong, president director of DBS Indonesia, will become CEO of DBS Taiwan from 1 January 2027. Adrian Chai, a managing director in DBS's institutional banking group, will take over as president director of DBS Indonesia from 1 December this year. 

All three appointments are subject to regulatory approval.

Paredes, who has led DBS Bank (Hong Kong) since September 2010, has been chairman of DBS China since April 2023, overseeing the group's North Asia franchise across Hong Kong, mainland China and Taiwan. 

Ng has been CEO of DBS Taiwan since 2023, a period in which he oversaw integration of Citi's consumer banking business into DBS. Ng joined DBS as a management associate in 2004 and was previously the head of financial institutions group.

Lim has been president director of PT Bank DBS Indonesia since August 2022. Lim has previously served as chief operating officer of IBG and as head of DBS IBG China.

Chai has worked within the institutional banking group, covering the automotive, food and agribusiness, and metals and mining sectors. In 2023 he led the creation of DBS's IBG Foreign Direct Investment Desk. Between 2013 and 2018 he served as head of Large Corporates at DBS China.
