Indosuez Wealth Management said Muriel Aboud Schirmann, head of advisory and capital markets in Switzerland, had relocated from Geneva to Singapore. Baillie Gifford appointed Calvin Liew as client relationship director, Singapore, to lead client relationships and business development across Southeast Asia.
It also appointed Louis Shen as head of discretionary portfolio management (DPM) for Asia. He joined from Nomura, where led the DPM team.
Julius Baer appointed former Bank of Singapore senior manager Nira Tanoko as market head for Southeast Asia. Based in Singapore, Tanoko reports to Jimmy Lee, member of the global wealth management committee and region head for Asia. At Bank of Singapore, Tanoko, who was market head, Indonesia, worked in wealth management for more than 20 years.
TEAM, an international wealth, asset management and financial services group headquartered in Jersey, appointed Sariel Khoo as a wealth manager in Singapore within its NEBA Private Clients division. She joined from SG Alliance, where she was a wealth manager. Khoo is the first advisor to be appointed specifically to serve the Singaporean markets.
Liew joined from Fullerton Fund Management, where he was managing director and head of institutional client solutions. He also worked at Colchester Global Investors, Cambridge Associates, Goldman Sachs Asset Management and PIMCO.
RBC Wealth Management in Asia made a range of hires:
-- Ivy Ma was appointed executive director in Hong Kong. With more than 20 years of financial markets experience, Ma joined from Standard Chartered Bank.
-- Jackson Huang was named director in Hong Kong. Most recently, he was senior director at Bank J Safra Sarasin, and previously worked at DBS Private Bank, Bank Julius Baer, and Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management.
-- Malcolm Chai was appointed as associate director in Hong Kong. Chai joined from UBS Global Family and Institutional Wealth. Previously, he served in relationship management roles at Bank Julius Baer and earlier positions at OCBC Bank and Credit Suisse across Singapore and Hong Kong.
-- In Singapore, Shirley Tee was appointed as MD, team head. Tee joined RBC as a team head for North Asia from the Bank of Singapore.
-- George Joseph was appointed as director in Singapore. He joined the global south Asia team at RBC from DBS Private Banking.
-- Sindy Shi was made associate director in Singapore. She joined from UOB, where she served as a privilege banking relationship manager for offshore Greater China.
Standard Chartered made five hires to join its global chief investment office team: Robin Xie (senior investment strategist), Cindy Lam (senior investment strategist) and Ryan Goh (investment strategist) joined the equity strategy team, Vincent Tan joined as a senior investment strategist covering foreign exchange, and Jay Harindrar joined as an investment strategist to support the expansion of the bank’s CIO offering in the alternatives space.
KKR appointed Roy Gori, former president and CEO of Manulife, as a senior advisor. Gori, a prominent figure in the global insurance and financial services industry, advises KKR on strategic opportunities across global financial services and insurance with a focus on Asia-Pacific and international markets. He is originally from Australia.
Levia Goh joined the investment management team at Barclays Private Bank in Singapore as a portfolio analyst, having previously worked at Nomura. Goh reports to Ong Shun Wei, head of investment management in Singapore for Barclays, who in turn reports to London-based Olivier Asselin, global co-head of investment Management.
Amundi has appointed Jason Lim as head of distribution and wealth sales – South Asia ex Malaysia & Thailand, based in Singapore. He reports to Albert Tse, chief executive officer of Amundi in South Asia, and to Gaëtan Delculée, head of distribution and wealth.
Lim is responsible for relationship management and business development across private banks, retail banks, insurers, IFAs and platforms in the region. He joined from Allianz Global Investors, where he was most recently a director and team lead in wholesale distribution for Southeast Asia. He previously worked at Aberdeen Asset Management, Franklin Templeton and Citibank.
Keenai, a wealthtech platform for accredited investors built in partnership with Lighthouse Canton, appointed Varun Mittal as country head, Singapore. Mittal was most recently chief digital and innovation officer at Singlife.
Neuberger, an investment manager, appointed Bertrand Ng as alternative product specialist, APAC. Based in Singapore, he joined the client coverage team and reports to Jose Cosio, head of intermediary, EMEA, LatAm and APAC. Ng was formerly with iCapital SG Pte, where he was chief executive officer, leading the firm's Singapore operations.
UOB Private Bank appointed Judy Chan as managing director, Hong Kong. She is based in Hong Kong and reports to Chew Mun Yew, head of group private bank. Chan has almost 30 years of banking experience.
Deutsche Bank said Jennifer Tay joined the German lender as vice chair for Southeast Asia, reporting to head of Southeast Asia, Johanes Oeni. She was most recently at Citigroup. Tay, who has more than two decades’ industry experience, served as market executive, investment counselling head, for Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Australia New Zealand and Asia South.
Lighthouse Canton, an investment group, appointed former banking executive Angela Saik as managing director, wealth management in Singapore. Saik previously worked at Royal Bank of Canada, Pictet Wealth Management and DBS Private Bank.
Schroders appointed Peter Flavel as chair and independent non-executive director of the board of Schroder & Co (Asia) Limited. Flavel works with Evonne Tan, the recently-appointed CEO of Schroders Wealth Management, Asia. Flavel is also a director at India-based Waterfield Advisors, a multi-family office. An Australian national, Flavel served in senior leadership roles across Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas. He established Standard Chartered’s global Private Bank and later served as CEO of JP Morgan Private Wealth Management for Asia-Pacific, based in Singapore. Most recently, he was CEO of Coutts in the UK, part of NatWest Group; he left in July 2023.
International law firm White & Case expanded its global financial restructuring and insolvency practice and global private capital industry group, adding Tarun Warriar as a partner in Hong Kong. Warriar joined from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, where he was a partner, prior to which he was managing director and Asia-Pacific general counsel at Värde Partners.
Barclays appointed former Bank of Singapore senior manager Nikhil Jha as head of Non-Resident Indian business in the private bank, Singapore. Jha reports to Alex Harrison, the country CEO in Singapore and head of the Singapore private bank for the UK lender.
RBC Wealth Management in Asia appointed Thomas Jost in the newly-formed role of head of the financial intermediaries desk, based in Singapore. Jost has served in senior leadership roles at banks including UBS, Credit Suisse, VP Bank, EFG Bank, and Julius Baer.
German asset manager DWS appointed JB Park as head of alternatives client coverage for the Asia-Pacific region. Park, who is a managing director based in Singapore, has more than 20 years of regional capital-raising and cross-border expertise in real estate, private equity and alternative investments. Prior to this, he worked at LaSalle Investment Management.
Ninety One, a UK-headquartered investment firm, said the portfolio manager for the Global Gold strategy and a co-portfolio manager for its Global Natural Resources (GNR) strategy had moved to its Singapore office. George Cheveley will move at the start of September.
Acadian Asset Management Singapore appointed Sheauyien Wang as director, Southeast Asia sales. Before this, Wang was head of Southeast Asia institutional business at Lombard. Previously, she served as managing director and head of Asia ex-Japan sales at State Street Global Advisors Singapore.
Andy Neo joined UBS as its new head of real estate lodging and leisure, or "RELL," for Southeast Asia. Neo, who joined from Jefferies, has had a career spanning investment banking (Citi, Standard Chartered) as well as Singapore corporates.
Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking (Natixis CIB) appointed Luc Bernard as its chief executive officer for Natixis Services in India, Natixis CIB’s technology and innovation hub in Bangalore. Bernard succeeded Nilesh Iyer who moved on to pursue opportunities outside the organisation.
HSBC appointed Dimitri Anghelakis as a new head of trust and fiduciary services. He succeeded Brent York, who retired after more than four decades at the bank. York will remain with the firm as an advisor until the middle of 2027 to ensure an orderly transition. Anghelakis moved to Hong Kong from London.
M&G Investments appointed Ruth Poh as Asia-Pacific compliance head, based in Singapore. She reports to Tim Page, the chief compliance officer for M&G Investments. Poh joined from UBS Asset Management, where she was head of compliance and operational risk control. She is also chair of the regulatory committee at the Investment Management Association of Singapore.
HP Wealth Management, the Singapore-headquartered independent wealth manager, appointed Michael Sutter and Alex Grindley as senior relationship managers. Both joined from UBS Singapore, where they served in senior roles within the wealth management division.
HSBC appointed Gloria Sun as the market head for “Offshore Taiwan” at its private banking arm. The role was a newly formed one. Based in Hong Kong, Sun reports to Kanas Chan, private banking head for North Asia and Hong Kong; she leads lead the offshore Taiwan teams in Hong Kong and Singapore. Sun has more than 20 years of leadership experience in private banking and wealth management across Greater China. Most recently, she served as senior market head for Taiwan at DBS.
