said yesterday that Sascha Gruber (pictured) has been appointed as the new CEO of the business. Gruber has been at the firm since 2002.

The appointment is subject to regulatory approval, LGT Capital Partners said in a statement.

Paganoni, the former incumbent, will join the firm’s group holding board, the Pfaeffikon, Switzerland-headquartered business said yesterday, describing the move as part of long-term succession planning.

LGT Capital Partners is a separate business from LGT, the Liechtenstein-headquartered private banking group, although both are owned by the Princely Family of Liechtenstein. The business has offices around the world: San Francisco, New York, Dublin, London, Paris, The Hague, Luxembourg, Frankfurt am Main, Vaduz, Dubai, Beijing, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore and Sydney.

Gruber has been a central figure in building the private markets business, particularly its secondaries strategy, and has led efforts to expand the firm internationally, including building its presence in the Americas.

Since the firm was founded, it has grown to more than $120 billion in AuM, with more than 750 institutional clients in 50 countries and around 1,000 staff across 16 offices. It invests across private markets, multi-alternatives and diversifying strategies, alongside sustainable and impact strategies.

“For almost 30 years, Roberto has shaped the firm’s development, building it into a resilient global investment manager with a clear strategy and strong culture,” Prince Max von und zu Liechtenstein, chairman of LGT Capital Partners, said. He added that Gruber shares the principles that have guided the firm from the outset and would bring “his own perspective to shape its future direction.”

The firm said it would keep its existing strategy under the Princely Family’s ownership and, as a principal investor, would continue to invest its own capital alongside clients’ money.
