MFO, Real Estate House Launch Investment Advisory Firm In Asia

The combined firms bring more than 45 years of experience to Mount Kendal.

Family investment office Sandaire, which has been ramping up its Asia presence, and UK-focused real estate advisor Delancey have launched new firm Mount Kendal in Singapore and Hong Kong.

Mount Kendal will be focused on delivering UK real estate investment advice to Asian investors and international family offices, the firms said in a statement yesterday.

The two firms have already established Mount Kendal in the UK, which this publication reported on in January 2017.

The new firm will seek to create and protect value across multi-sector, single asset or asset portfolio investments. Mount Kendal will consider transactions of all sizes with its knowledge of the UK and will respond to client objectives and provide tailored investment strategies.

“We think there is an opportunity to serve the needs of significant families who want direct exposure to real estate, said Alexander Scott, founder and chairman of Sandaire. “The critical thing is that we are offering a service, not selling a product. We are helping families to understand what it is that they want and then we’re going to deliver a service based on those principles.”

“London looks stable and quite compelling on a relative basis, albeit there is a little bit of uncertainty, but is very unlikely not to remain the capital city of Western Europe,” said Jamie Ritblat, founder and chairman of Delancey. “We feel that this is a timely moment to launch Mount Kendal in an unsettled world, to enable Asian families and investors to make the most of the current opportunities in UK real estate."

Among recent developments, Sandaire has built a Singapore presence, continuing expansion from when, in 2014, it merged with Lord North Street, a private investment office in the UK. This week, it appointed Andrew Waldren to the post of chief operating officer. Previously the COO role was incorporated within the chief financial officer role. The firm told this publication that because Sandaire is "enhancing its operating model, the operations function became a much larger role and needed to be a standalone".
