The Switzerland-based private bank has made a number of appointments in Asia, while one of its senior figures is stepping down.

Union Bancaire Privée has appointed Paras Gupta as head of investment services for Southeast Asia.

Based in Singapore, Gupta reports functionally to Michaël Lok and locally to Eric Morin, regional head, SEA.

Gupta, who will lead the discretionary portfolio management, investment specialists and investment advisory teams based in Singapore, is remaining as the regional lead for DPM with respect to asset allocation and controls.

A head of investment services for north Asia will join in the coming months with similar local leadership responsibilities, based in Hong Kong, according to a memo seen by this news service. In the meantime, Ivan Wong will assume the role of interim head of investment services for north Asia.

Following this re-organisation, Edouard Hoepffner is leaving to pursue opportunities outside the firm. Hoepffner, who is senior managing director, head of investment services at UBP, will remain at UBP until the end of May. He has been at the Geneva-based bank since April 2016; prior to this, he was at Coutts for more than four years, based in Singapore.
